Alberta Education funding for children starting as early as 2 years & 8 months of age with severe delays in development. Funding is available for eligible children for a
maximum of 3 years, with the last year intended for Kindergarten.
Children attend community preschools and may receive additional programming in addition to scheduled preschool sessions.
Each child is assigned a Program Support Assistant (PSA).
An Education Coordinator (EC) who is a certificated teacher is assigned to each child and will be responsible for overseeing the child’s programming focusing on early academic
skills.
An Instructional Team (EC, Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), Psychologist, PSA) is assigned to each child/ family based upon a
child’s identified needs.
Parents are active participants in program design and are integral members on the Instructional Team for programming hours and for the number of Family Oriented Programming Sessions
(FOPS) chosen by the family.
Parents attend all three Individualized Program Plan (IPP) meetings. A child’s Preschool Teacher / staff member is invited to attend and participate in the program plan.
