Program Unit Funding

Alberta Education funding for children starting as early as 2 years & 8 months of age with severe delays in development. Funding is available for eligible children for a maximum of 3 years, with the last year intended for Kindergarten.

• Children attend community preschools/daycare and may receive additional programming in addition to scheduled preschool sessions.
• Each child is assigned a Program Support Assistant (PSA).
• An Education Coordinator (EC) who is a certificated teacher is assigned to each child and will be responsible for overseeing the child’s programming focusing on early academic skills.
• An Instructional Team (EC, Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapist (OT), Behaviour Specialist, PSA) is assigned to each child/ family based on a child’s identified needs.
• Parents are active participants in program design and are integral members of the Team.
• Parents attend all three Individualized Program Plan (IPP) meetings. A child’s Preschool/Daycare Teacher is invited to attend and participate in the program plan.
