Program Unit Funding

Alberta Education funding for children ages 2 ½ - 5 ½  years of age with severe delays in development. Funding is available for eligible children for a maximum of 3 years.
  • Children attend community preschools and may receive additional programming in addition to scheduled preschool sessions.
  • Each child is assigned a Program Support Assistant (PSA) or a Therapy Support Assistant (TSA).
  • An Educational Program Specialist (EPS) is assigned to each child and will be responsible for overseeing the child’s programming focusing on early academic skills.
  • An Instructional Team (EPS, Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), Psychologist, PSA or TSA) is assigned to each child/ family based upon a child’s identified needs.
  • Parents are active participants in program design and are integral members on the Instructional Team for programming hours and for the number of Family Oriented Programming Sessions (FOPS) chosen by the family.
  • Parents attend all three Individualized Program Plan (IPP) meetings. A child’s Preschool Teacher / staff member is invited to attend.
